Two Dead and Dozens Injured After Mexican Navy Ship Collides with Brooklyn Bridge
Tragedy struck New York City on Saturday night when the Mexican Navy’s tall ship, Cuauhtémoc, crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge during a departure maneuver.
The majestic three-mast sailing vessel, carrying hundreds of cadets and crew members, struck the underside of the historic bridge just before 8:30 p.m.
The impact caused the ship’s towering 147-foot masts to break violently, showering the deck with splintered wood, steel, and rigging.
The sudden disaster left two people dead and at least 19 others injured, with several in critical condition.
