“THE MONEY WAS FOR THE ARTISTES” — PETER OKOYE SPEAKS ON $800K ROYALTIES

According to The Guardian, Peter made the disclosure while testifying virtually during cross-examination by Jude’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewnor, SAN.

Peter was questioned over his claim that Jude took more than three months to provide P-Square’s backend royalty records after a request in 2022. He maintained that he had made an earlier request, but when asked for evidence, he admitted he had none and could not remember the details.

He confirmed receiving royalty records covering 2016–2022, explaining that the documents were requested because some individuals were interested in purchasing P-Square’s music catalogue.

When asked about the approximately $800,000 SACEM payment, Peter maintained that Jude was not entitled to the money, saying:

“No, the money was for the artists.”

He also insisted:

“Jude is not part of P-Square.”

Peter acknowledged that Jude directed some of P-Square’s music videos but maintained that he and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, composed, wrote and produced the group’s songs.

Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, are facing a seven-count EFCC charge involving alleged ₦1.3 billion and $1 million fraud. Jude has pleaded not guilty.

The court has adjourned further hearing to December 8 and 9, 2026.
