Malian Army Foils Alleged French Linked Coup and Assassination Attempt on President Goïta

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have reportedly thwarted an attempted coup and assassination plot against President Assimi Goïta, allegedly involving operatives connected to France’s DGSE intelligence agency.

 According to military sources, the operation was disrupted before it could succeed, and all suspects present at the scene were taken into custody.

President Goïta remains in office as head of the Republic of Mali and continues to serve as acting president of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) confederation.
