Justice Egwuatu Withdraws from Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan's Case

In a surprising turn of events, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has recused himself from the case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central District.

During Tuesday’s court proceedings, which were scheduled for a hearing, Justice Egwuatu unexpectedly announced his decision to withdraw from the case. As the court clerk called up the matter, the judge ruled that he would no longer preside over it.

He cited allegations of bias leveled against him by the third defendant, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as the primary reason for stepping aside. Following this decision, Justice Egwuatu stated that he would return the case file to the Chief Judge for reassignment to another judge.

The development has raised speculation about the future direction of the case, as Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan continues her legal battle.
