FCT POLICE RESCUE 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL FROM ALLEGED SEXUAL ABUSE

The FCT Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zazzayanu Halilu after officers allegedly caught him sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl inside a parked vehicle on October 2.

According to police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, officers on routine patrol around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park noticed a fully tinted vehicle parked with its windows closed. The officers became suspicious after reportedly noticing the vehicle shaking.

They approached and opened the vehicle, where they allegedly discovered the suspect with the minor. He was immediately arrested, while the girl was rescued.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had allegedly abused the child on multiple occasions at the same location and threatened her against telling anyone.

Authorities further stated that a medical examination found that the girl is approximately three months pregnant, allegedly as a result of the abuse.

The victim is currently receiving medical care and support, while the suspect remains in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations and his expected arraignment in court.

A deeply disturbing case that highlights the importance of protecting children and speaking up when abuse is suspected
