EFCC Opposes Yahaya Bello’s Request for Medical Trip Abroad in ₦80.2bn Fraud Case
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has challenged former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello’s application to travel overseas for medical treatment amidst his ongoing ₦80.2 billion fraud trial.
Bello’s legal team, led by J.B. Daudu, SAN, presented the application on Thursday, June 27, 2025, before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja.
Daudu urged the court to prioritize the former governor’s health, arguing that Bello urgently requires medical care not available in Nigeria.
According to Daudu, the application was supported by a detailed affidavit from Bello, alongside medical reports and a letter from a consultant cardiologist.
