EFCC Chairman Warns Local Government Chairmen: "We Won’t Wait Until Your Tenure Ends"

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has issued a stern warning to local government chairpersons across Nigeria, emphasizing that they do not have immunity from investigation or prosecution for financial mismanagement.

Olukoyede stated that the EFCC will not wait until their tenure ends before taking action against corrupt practices. He made this known in a statement released on Wednesday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC.

He lamented the lack of tangible development in local government areas despite increased allocations from the Federation Account, stating that many councils exist only in name without delivering meaningful progress
