Edo Governor Launches Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Reelection, Welcomes Lawmaker from PDP

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has kicked off early mobilization for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid, signaling a strong push for support within the state.

Speaking in Benin City, the governor made the announcement while formally receiving Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Osamwonyi, who represents Uhunmwonde constituency and sits on the committee for budget and appropriation, was initially welcomed by APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe before being introduced to the governor.

Governor Okpebholo praised Osamwonyi and four other defectors, saying their decision to join the APC has strengthened the party's presence in Edo. “This is just the beginning. More defections are coming. Soon, we’ll witness a carnival of new members joining our movement,” he stated.
