CAF President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed a major change to the scheduling of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)
Patrice Motsepe has announced that the tournament will be held every four years starting from 2028.
According to Motsepe, the move is aimed at improving the overall quality of the tournament, easing calendar congestion, and allowing African football to better align with global football schedules.
The new format is expected to give host nations more time to prepare infrastructure, enhance commercial value, and allow national teams more stability in long term planning
