A courtroom in Zimbabwe was left in disbelief when Maclaren Nduri admitted to urinating and defecating in his bedroom as a form of protest against his wife's alleged denial of conjugal rights. The unusual case unfolded as Nduri expressed his frustrations about his wife, Berita Mutero, who he claims has refused intimacy since taking a job in Mbare, which he suspects is tied to her involvement with another man.
In a candid revelation, Nduri described his actions as retaliation for what he perceives as neglect. He recounted a previous incident where Mutero reported him for domestic violence, resulting in a 30-day jail sentence. “This has been going on for some time, and I can't forgive her for making me go through this,” he stated.
Mutero, in response, disclosed even more alarming details about Nduri's behavior. She claimed that he not only defecates in their bedroom but also physically assaults her and burns her clothes in retaliation for her rejections. “I am tired of my husband's behavior,” she said, adding that he sometimes uses a bucket to relieve himself and leaves it in the bedroom for days.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga, who presided over the case, recommended that the couple seek professional marital counseling to address their ongoing issues, highlighting the need for resolution beyond the courtroom.
