Tinubu requests that the police look into the Adamawa guber election scandal.

In response to the controversy, President-elect Bola Tinubu ordered police to thoroughly investigate everything that happened during the Adamawa governorship supplementary election.

While congratulating the winners of the Saturday's supplementary governorship elections in Kebbi and Adamawa, he made the charge in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

In states where the election took place, Mr. Tinubu also celebrated with those who were elected to the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly in the most recent round of voting.

He added that the winners should recommit themselves to serving their respective constituencies because they had won the people's trust.

He claimed that the additional polls had finally and appropriately concluded the 2023 elections.

“I observed, with satisfaction, the largely peaceful atmosphere that pervaded the supplementary election on Saturday.

“The election is a further testimony that citizens have accepted democratic norms and have unalloyed faith in the electoral process.

“However, I note the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election matter, and I urge police authorities to thoroughly investigate all that transpired in the election, given the attendant controversy.

“In every democratic contest, there has to be one winner. I call on those aggrieved to pursue legitimate means of addressing their grievances,” the president-elect advised.

He encouraged those who had won to get ready to serve the electorate assiduously and devotedly, and to work alongside him as president-elect to advance the nation.

In order to achieve the agenda of a better, stronger, more secure, economically vibrant, and prosperous Nigeria, he said this was essential.

The alleged declaration of Aisha Binani of the APC as the victor of the supplementary election by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner on Saturday was followed by controversy.

The commission then ruled that the pronouncement was invalid.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was named the election's victor by INEC on Monday. He received 430,861 votes, defeating Binani, who received 398,788.
