Jumia Technologies to Cease Operations in South Africa and Tunisia by End of 2024

Jumia Technologies AG, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, has announced plans to shut down its operations in South Africa, where it operated under the brand name Zando, as well as in Tunisia by the end of 2024.

This strategic decision is part of Jumia's efforts to optimize resources and concentrate on markets with stronger growth potential, particularly in Nigeria and other key regions across the continent.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the company explained that the move follows a thorough evaluation of its operations in South Africa and Tunisia, which have contributed a relatively small share to Jumia's overall business.

As Jumia shifts its focus, the company aims to strengthen its presence in more promising markets, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing e-commerce across Africa.
