Gloria Carter, mother of famous American rapper, Jay-Z has come out boldly and tied the knot with long-time partner Roxanne Wilshire in New York City over the weekend.
The ceremony took place in New York on Sunday evening and unsurprisingly of course, was a perfectly star-studded event with Jay Z heading the event with pride.
According to TMZ, other A-list celebrity guests in attendance included Beyoncé’s former bandmate Kelly Rowland, film mogul Tyler Perry, Robin Roberts and Corey Gamble and they certainly partied hard with the reception, which was held in Tribeca, wrapping up at around 1am.
Jay Z was joined by his wife Beyonce, 41, to honour his mother. Beyoncé was seen donned in skyscraper heels while holding onto their daughter Blue Ivy, 11, for support. The two were suitably glam for the occasion in evening dresses, while the iconic Grammy-award-winning singer finished off her peach look with a feather wrap.
As the evening event drew to a close, the newlyweds were seen leaving the party with Gloria tucked in a white suit, and Roxanne in a stunning gold and white shimmery dress.
Jay Z has been openly supportive of his mother’s sexuality since she came out as a lesbian in his 2017 track Smile, which featured on his album 4:44. On the track, the highly decorated rapper reveals how his mother Gloria spent years hiding the fact she was a lesbian while raising four children.
