Niger State Governor Suspends IBB University Vice Chancellor Amid Staff Clashes

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has suspended Prof. Abu Kasim Adamu, the Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), effective immediately.

The suspension comes amid reports of ongoing clashes between Prof. Adamu and university staff, although specific reasons for the action have not been publicly disclosed. Allegations of high-handedness and insubordination have surfaced, suggesting that these issues may have contributed to strained relations with faculty members and union bodies.

As tensions within the university have reportedly escalated, especially with Prof. Adamu’s tenure set to conclude in two months, Governor Bago has directed him to hand over his responsibilities to Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Hassan Ibrahim, who will now assume the role of Acting Vice Chancellor.
