Mohbad's Widow Omowunmi Agrees to DNA Test for Son Liam Amid Legal Proceedings

Omowunmi, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has consented to a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to determine the paternity of their only son, Liam. This decision comes in the wake of ongoing legal proceedings following Mohbad's controversial death on September 12, 2024.

After public outcry led to the exhumation of Mohbad's body for an autopsy, his father, Joseph Aloba, initiated a lawsuit seeking a DNA test for his grandson. The family’s legal team faced challenges in serving Omowunmi with court documents, prompting the Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, to encourage both parties to pursue alternative dispute resolution.

In a recent statement, Monisola Odumosu, a representative of Joseph Aloba's legal team, confirmed that a settlement had been reached outside of court. The agreement allows for the DNA test to be conducted at an accredited medical facility either within Lagos State or another mutually agreeable location.

According to the terms of the settlement, Joseph Aloba will cover all costs associated with the DNA testing process, including sample collection and any legal fees. The court has appointed officials to supervise the testing to ensure its reliability.

The court further mandated that each party bears their respective costs in the case, except for the expenses related to the DNA test, which will be covered by Mohbad’s father
