Kano Mother Kidnaps 6-year-old Daughter, Demands N3m From Husband

The police in Kano have detained a 25-year-old lady named Rahama Sulaiman for reportedly kidnapping her 6-year-old daughter, Hafsat Kabiru, and extorting N3 million from her husband.

The mom allegedly told a neighboring relative to keep her daughter because she was about to embark on a four day trip.

The suspect and other criminals were being paraded at the Kano Police Command's headquarters when the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, claimed they had received a tip that the suspect's daughter had been abducted from her father, Kabiru Shehu.

“In a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA and the wife, who was earlier divorced by the husband, confessed to having planned the kidnapping of her daughter.”

After being led before the media, the suspect explained that she had committed the crime in order to obtain money to care for her ex-husband's children because he had been withholding support for them for more than ten months.

“I called him and told him that our daughter was missing and we went to the police together and reported the matter. Inside the police station, I gave him the number of the guy that will receive the ransom,” she said.

She declared that she had made amends with her spouse and expressed regret for her action.

The husband stated that his wife had never done such a thing before when he affirmed that they had reunited.

Along with bringing other criminals, such as kidnappers and drug dealers, on display, the command also found over 600 bundles of Indian hemp.

However, the CP stated that following an investigation, all individuals would face charges.
