Former Councillor Ndubisi Okechukwu Arrested for Alleged Kidnap Attempt in Delta State

A former councillor, Ndubisi Okechhukwu, who represented Emu-Uno in the Kwale Local Government Area of Delta State, has been arrested for an alleged attempt to kidnap a prominent woman in the Abbi community.

The arrest was disclosed by the spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Sunday, October 27, 2024. According to the statement, police acted on credible intelligence received by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Florence Onum regarding a planned kidnapping.

“Acting on this intelligence, the DPO of Kwale and operatives of the division conducted a discreet investigation. On October 21, 2024, at about 1900 hours, Hon. Ndubisi Okechhukwu, a two-time councillor in Emu-Uno, was apprehended,” the statement revealed.

During interrogation, Okechhukwu reportedly confessed to the allegations, explaining that he had been suspended from his position as a councillor. He admitted that his motive for the kidnapping was to extort ransom from the Local Government, knowing that the targeted woman had close ties to the local government chairman.

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and further legal actions are expected to follow.
