The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has granted approval for Kogi State's ambitious project to construct an International Airport in Zariagi.
This significant development was communicated in a letter dated October 9, 2024, according to Kogi's Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo.
Fanwo emphasized the commitment of Governor Usman Ododo's administration to ensure the project's timely completion while adhering to all regulatory standards. He highlighted that the new airport will serve not only Kogi State but also ten neighboring states, alleviating congestion on the Lokoja-Abuja road and easing traffic at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
"This airport is a top priority for Kogi State as we aim to establish ourselves as an aviation hub," Fanwo stated. "Our strategic location offers a unique advantage in tapping into the aviation service market at the heart of Nigeria."
The project is expected to enhance the state's economy, create job opportunities, and elevate Kogi's profile on the global stage.
