EFCC Seeks Adjournment in Case Against Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has requested an adjournment of the hearing in its new case against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and two co-defendants, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to November 14.

During the resumed hearing, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), representing the EFCC, reminded the court that a public summons had been issued for the first defendant, Yahaya Bello, at the last court session. However, Justice Maryann E. Anenih clarified that she only ordered a public summons and did not request the charge to be posted publicly.

Oyedepo argued for the adjournment, noting that Bello has until the new date to comply with the summons.

He expressed his expectation that the former governor would attend the court session on November 14, which falls within the 30-day compliance period for the summons.

The court granted the request, postponing the arraignment of all three defendants until that date.
