Lawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs have filed a court document asserting that the rapper is the real victim in a series of allegations against him, citing "inflammatory statements" and "outlandish conspiracy theories" that are impacting his ability to receive a fair trial. The high-powered legal team submitted a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on Sunday, requesting an order to prevent potential witnesses from making public statements that could further damage Diddy's reputation.
The legal troubles for Diddy intensified in September when he was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His attorneys argue that the allegations made by his accusers—some of which involve claims about him using baby oil laced with date rape drugs—are unfounded and have been widely disseminated in the media.
"Mr. Combs has been the target of an unending stream of allegations by prospective witnesses and their counsel in the press," the letter states. The attorneys highlighted how these statements are aimed at "assassinating Mr. Combs’s character."
Particular attention was drawn to reports that federal agents confiscated "1,000 bottles" of baby oil from Diddy’s properties in Miami and Los Angeles, with accusations suggesting he misused them inappropriately. The legal team referenced an article from the Daily Beast in which an attorney for alleged victim Ashley Parham claimed Diddy spiked baby oil with a date rape drug before assaulting her. Parham is suing Diddy for an alleged rape that she claims occurred in 2018.
The indictment against Diddy includes allegations of orchestrating "Freak Offs," elaborate sexual performances that he directed. These events reportedly lasted for days and required participants to receive IV fluids due to the demands placed on them.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which allege he coerced and abused women over the years, supported by associates and employees, while silencing victims through threats and violence. Currently, he remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after two judges denied him bail.
In a recent legal move, Diddy’s lawyers demanded that prosecutors disclose the identities of his alleged victims to prepare adequately for the upcoming trial. They argue that the case is unique due to Diddy's celebrity status and the surrounding publicity, and that many accusations have been "false to outright absurd."
By identifying the accusers, Diddy and his legal team believe they can better understand the charges against him and the specific allegations that prosecutors intend to rely on during the May tria
