Aare Ona Kakanfo Gani Adams Sues Sunday Igboho for ?5 Billion Over Privacy Violation

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has filed a ?5 billion lawsuit against Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, commonly known as Sunday Igboho, at an Oyo State High Court.

Adams alleges that Igboho unlawfully recorded and publicly released a private phone conversation between himself and another individual without consent, claiming this action has severely damaged his reputation.

In the lawsuit, referenced as suit number M/1006/2024, Adams is seeking to enforce his fundamental rights under Section 37 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, which protects the right to privacy. He describes Igboho's actions as “unlawful, illegal, and unconstitutional,” labeling them as “reckless and injurious” to his esteemed position.

According to Adams, the recorded conversation was shared on social media in April 2024, leading to “serious embarrassment” and a violation of his privacy rights.
