On March 30th, news about Big Brother Naija season 6 Shine ya eyes housemates Saga and Nini Singh being engaged circulated round the net sending fans and shippers alike into a frenzy as we reported.
Their hopes were soon dashed when Saga broke his silence on the viral proposal video. The reality TV star went on to reveal in a radio interview that the entire engagement was a "skit".
According to him, he was shocked when he found out that the video had been leaked.
His disclaimer had since dashed the hopes of fans who were anticipating seeing them join the exclusive list of Big Brother Naija alumni who became couples.
However, in an unprecedented turn of events, Saga confirmed the authenticity of the engagement rumuors, negating his first claim of it being a skit.
During an interview on Arise TV 360, Saga confirmed that the proposal was not staged, even though there were rumours suggesting otherwise. He made this confirmation while discussing on his preparations for his art exhibition titled ‘Subtle Reflection,’ which will take place in Lagos between April 13th and 30th.
“Even we don’t know the date we are getting married, so everybody should please chill. Just to clarify, it wasn’t a skit. I’m not so jobless that I would wake up one morning and start proposing to someone and kissing, and all of that just to make people laugh or what.
The thing is we had a brand engagement for the wine brand, earlier that day, and I already planned to propose after the shoot. The only link was that it was the same day. But it wasn’t a skit… Yes, the video is true, but you people should please allow us to live our private lives. We’ll appreciate it.â€
Fans of the stars returned to rejoicing on social media upon final confirmation and there has been a relative quiet on the news until recently.
BBNaija's Nini Singh shared a pair of photos on her Instagram page and fans were quick to spot her 'ringless' finger and have been thrown into a fit, wondering if the reality TV alums are messing with them as this would be her second public appearance without a ring on her finger since the engagement announcement. Fans do not seem to be having it as they took to the comments to demand an explanation.
Coupled with the fact that Nini has chosen to stay silent amid claims by her colleague, Saga that they are engaged; fans see this as enough proof to feel toyed with.
