Tribunal Resumes Today as Keyamo Attends Hearing

Festus Keyamo, a former minister of state for employment, appeared before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) for the first time on Tuesday, May 30.

Keyamo was seen entering the building for the first time.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was defended at the hearing on Tuesday by the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a former spokesperson for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

After the court aggregated all of the petitions that were before it at the last adjourned date, the definite hearing resumes.

Since most of the petitioners' grounds are similar, the consolidation is for a quick hearing.

The APM vs. INEC, Tinubu, Shettima, APC, and Kabiru Masari hearings are already underway.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu's challenges to the three different lawsuits seeking to overturn the results of the 2023 presidential election were denied by the tribunal on May 23.

In the proceeding, a five-member court panel chaired by Justice Haruna Tsammani ruled that as all of the claims involved the same election, it was only just that they be merged and handled as a single petition.

The court set May 30 for Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to begin presenting his argument against the results of the presidential election held on February 25.

Prior to this, Obi had stated that he would require seven weeks to deliver his case using 50 witnesses.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM), in addition to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the LP, filed a petition to contest the results of the presidential election.
