Suspected Herdsmen Attack Benue Communities And Kills 10, Again

At least ten more people have been killed by the bloodthirsty gunmen wreaking havoc in Benue State and other regions of the nation.

According to reports, the attackers entered the unarmed residents of the Opaha, Odogbo, and Edikwu communities in the state's Apa Local Government Area on Tuesday night.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent, the community was invaded by dangerous criminals believed to be Fulani herdsmen late on Wednesday, leaving dozens dead and a number of others injured.

He claimed that following the unprovoked attack, ten corpses have so far been found and interred, while others are still missing.

As of the time of publication, DSP Catherine Anene, the state police public relations officer, could not be reached for comment.

With over 2.5 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDP), Benue State has had the worst track record for herdsmen attacks.

Over 200 innocent people have been killed by the gunmen in one month as they have been on the loose throughout the State.

Remember that Samuel Ortom, the state governor, claimed that over 134 people had died in just five days on April 8 while appealing for assistance from the federal government.

This came after the recent attacks by the assailants in the local government areas, or LGAs, of Otukpo, Apa, and Guma.
