The Sultan made the announcement on Thursday in his palace in Sokoto after the National Moon Sighting Committee and the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs received several reports from different Moon Sighting committees across the nation.
Thus, he explained, Friday is Eid Fitr and Thursday is the 29th day of Ramadan in 1444 AH.
The Sultan declared Friday to be the first day of Shawwal 1444AH, the Day of Eid al-Fitr, after stating that he had accepted the report.
He also went ahead to congratulate Nigerian Muslims and wished them God's blessings, advising them to keep praying for the country's peace, progress, and development.
