Spain win their first FIFA Women's World Cup title.

Spain have won their first FIFA Women's World Cup title after their 1-0 victory over England at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia

Real Madrid's Olga Carmona Garcia scored the eventual winning goal in the 29th minute of the game as her strike from just inside the box was drilled low and found the back of the net. Spain had the chance to make 2-0 through a penalty kick in the 70th minute but Jenifer Hermoso failed to convert the spot kick.

Spain are the first team in Women's football history to be reigning World Cup champions at U-17, U-20 and Senior level. They are also only the second nation in history to win both the Women's and Men's FIFA World Cup.
