Sowere: There is no Treason in Lawful Protests Against Fraudulent Election

Omoyele Sowore,  the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has scolded President Muhammadu Buhari and his Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, over a treason allegation against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Tuesday accused Obi and Datti-Ahmed of treason going on their statements about the outcome of the 2023 general poll.

The Minister, while speaking for the government during his official engagement with some international media organizations in Washington DC, United States, said Obi’s comments on the just concluded general elections showed he (Obi) was acting like “a desperate person; he is not a democrat that he claimed to be.”

He stated that it was wrong for Obi to seek redress in court over the election results while inciting people to violence in another.

Reacting to the accusation on his official Twitter Handle, Sowore said, “I am clear about these issues even though I stringently continue to state that @PeterObi and his @NgLabour are not different from his @OfficialAPCNg and @OfficialPDPNig  uncles, however, shameless Lai Mohammed and @NGRPresident claims that protected speech and lawful protests against fraudulent election amounts to “Treason” is a hoax and fallacy carried too far.

“They’re harassing @Peterobi and his Vice Presidential candidate, DATTI Ahmed with these tactics because they know they are wimps with zero ability to fight a revolutionary struggle and because they’ve all been partners in crime since 1999. #RevolutionNow”
