Sevilla’s Europa supremacy continues as they clinch another Europa title.

Sevilla have clinched their seventh Europa League title in their history to continue their love affair with the cup as they defeated Roma on penalties 4-1 with nothing to separate both sides after 120 minutes of playing time.

Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was the hero of the night as he saved two penalty kicks from Gianluca Mancini and Roger Ibanez. Gonzalo Montiel was the fourth taker and potential winner for Sevilla as he stepped up to take his kick but eventually missed before referee Anthony Taylor asked for a retake after the VAR spotted an infringement by the Roma goalkeeper. Montiel then finished the job off by converting the spot kick and winning it for the champions.

Jose Luis Mendilibar became the oldest winning coach of the Europa League at the age of 62 years while Jose Mourinho lost anEuropean final for the first time in his 20-year long managerial career.

This Europa League triumph has ensured Sevilla’s qualification to the next season’s UEFA Champions League despite their finish outside the top4 in the La Liga Santander.

Sevilla previously won the competition in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020.
