Senate To Investigate Allegations of Corruption Surrounding IPPIS

The 10th Senate has voted to launch an extensive investigation into charges of corruption in the administration and management of the Government's Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

This was announced today during the Senate plenary session.

This comes just a few days after the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) criticised the IPPIS payment process after members of the organisation received double pay in June.

According to a Punch report, ASUP argued that the double salary accidentally provided by IPPIS substantiated the complaint about the payment platform's shortcomings.

It should also be noted that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on strike in February 2022 over allegations of anomalies with the IPPIS payment process.

In response to the charges of shortcomings, the Senate stated its willingness to probe the system's suspected malfeasance.

The Senate also agreed to investigate disagreements over whether IPPIS or UTAS should be used to pay university workers in Nigeria.
