The Real Reason FG Postponed The 2023 Census– Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, has revealed the rationale behind the Federal Government's decision to delay the 2023 census.

The social critic claimed that because the federal government was unable to pay for the census, which is expected to cost about $1.8 billion, it passed the buck to President-elect Bola Tinubu.

On Saturday, Sani dropped the hint in a post on his verified Twitter account.

Remember that the 2023 Population and Housing Census was approved to be postponed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The choice was made after a Friday night meeting with a few Federal Executive Council and National Population Commission members.

A new date would be decided, according to Buhari, by the incoming administration.

Sani claimed that the federal government lacked the resources necessary to finance the census.

He wrote, “The simple fact is that the FG doesn’t have $1.8 billion for the Census and now shifted the Wahala to Asiwaju.”
