Karim Benzema was set up by Vinicius Junior to open the scoring for the hosts in the 21st minute while Vinicius Junior grabbed his second assist on the night when he assisted substitute Marco Asensio to extend the lead for the defending champions.
English defender Ben Chillwell was sent off in the 59th minute of the game and is thus suspended for the return leg of the tie at Stamford Bridge on the 18th of April.
The winner of this quarter-final fixture after both legs would face Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the competition.
