Adekunle Gold, affectionately known as AG Baby or Tio Tequila, has recently made an exciting announcement regarding his upcoming album titled “Tequila Ever After.” But how did he come to be known as Tio Tequila? He shed some light on the origin of this intriguing alias. 

The story began during a studio session in early 2022, when Adekunle Gold found himself in a terrible mood. However, everything changed when someone offered him a shot of tequila. Taking his first sip of the renowned Mexican spirit, he experienced an immediate shift in his disposition. The tequila worked its magic, uplifting his spirits, filling him with energy, and bringing happiness into his being. It was a transformative moment that left him pondering, “What the heck is this?” 

That particular studio session concluded on an exceptionally positive note. The tequila had dispelled his anxiety and frustrations, clearing his mind and allowing him to pen a beautiful song. Inspired by this newfound clarity and zest for life, Adekunle Gold decided to adopt a moniker that encapsulated this transformative experience. Thus, the name "Tio Tequila” was born. 

In Spanish, “tio” can mean uncle, mister, or guy. It captured perfectly the essence of the persona Adekunle Gold wanted to embody. From that day forward, he carried the uplifting and vibrant spirit of tequila into all of his subsequent studio sessions. Writing each song on his forthcoming album with an open mind, an energetic spirit, and a happy heart, he made a conscious decision to let go of anxiety and worry. Adekunle Gold is ready to revel in his accomplishments, ready to live life unapologetically. 

His journey has brought him to a place he calls “Tequila Ever After,” and he desires nothing more than for his listeners to find their version of this joyous celebration.
