President Tinubu To Reduce Importation Of Medical Drugs From 60% to 40%

President Bola Tinubu’s led administration moves to reduce the importation of medical drugs into Nigeria from 60 percent to 40 percent, to encourage and support the local manufacturing of drugs for all forms of illness.

The President Bola Tinubu Federal Government has on Tuesday, announced its immediate plan to reduce the importation of Medical drugs into the country from 60% to 40%, to promote the local manufacturing of drugs, Page 36 learnt.

The Special Adviser to the President on Health, Salma Anas-Ibrahim, made this disclosure at a Workshop organised to strengthen the World Health Organisation, WHO, Nigeria Country Cooperation Strategy, in Abuja.

According to Anas-Ibrahim, the move is part of President Tinubu’s priority agenda to bridge the gap in the country’s Health sector.

Other priority areas include: increasing and improving access to equal health care services, and national health insurance for at least 40% of Nigeria’s population, to ensure all citizens, including the vulnerable group, are beneficiaries.
