Osinbajo Leads Commonwealth Election Observers to Sierra Leone

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's immediate-past Vice President, is scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone on Saturday to lead a 12-member Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) for the country's elections.

Osinbajo had accepted the Commonwealth's offer to lead the Observer Group formed by the Commonwealth's Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, to monitor the general elections in Sierra Leone.

His media adviser, Laolu Akande, confirmed Osinbajo's schedule via Twitter, saying the former Vice President will be in Sierra Leone for the rest of the month.

“Immediate past VP Osinbajo heads to Sierra Leone today as Chair of the 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group for the country’s elections. He'll address Press Conf. on Monday & be in the country for the rest of the month. Later, the Osinbajo- COG will report on the election’s credibility.” Akande wrote.

This will be the fifth time for a Commonwealth Observer Group to foresee elections in Sierra Leone since the end of the civil war that happened in 2002.
