Nigerian Police Rescue 58 Kidnap Victims In FCT, Kogi

Nigerian Police Force agents have freed 58 hostages at Udulu Forest, Gegu LGA of Kogi State, bordering Sardauna Forest, Nasarawa State, and other known kidnappers' dens in communities adjacent to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Unfortunately, one of the victims, Tama Jonathan, was hurt during the rescue effort and passed away immediately. His family has since received his remains to bury. The remaining 58 victims who were saved are being stabilized in the hospital and will soon be reunited with their families. According to the police, the bandits or kidnappers opened fire at the security team after spotting it and engaged in a shootout duel. The robbers were defeated and forced to flee while suffering varying degrees of bullet wounds, leaving their victims behind. According to SP Josephine Adeh, a spokesperson for the FCT Police, the rescue is a part of the command leadership's ongoing efforts to combat violent crimes in the FCT, rescue victims, and apprehend offenders through a sustained joint operation with other security agencies, vigilantes, and hunters from different local communities. She added that CP Haruna Garba, the FCT Police command's commissioner of police, has vowed that, while efforts are being made to stop any new dangers to the safety and security of residents, the command will also not give up on rescuing any residents being held hostage by criminals and holding those responsible accountable.
