Napoli running away with Scudetto

Italian League leaders Napoli are certainly running away with the Scudetto and their fans have already started believing the impossible is about to happen again after 33 years.

Legendary Diego Armando Maradona, whose memories live on with the Italian side, was the man who guided them to their last title win in 1990 and looks like the man to guide them again from the heavens this time as he passed on in 2020 and had the club’s stadium renamed after him upon his passing in remembrance of his tremendous achievements for the Naples based team.

With just 10 games to go before the end of the league season, Napoli currently sit top of the league with a 16-point margin ahead of 2ndplaced Lazio. Having won 23 of their 28 games played, they deservedly are the best side in the league and one of the best in Europe this season as they have shown on the continental stage, qualifying for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

It’s impossible to talk about Napoli without mentioning Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who are regarded as the best duo in Europe this season and have justified that tag as they boast of a combined 47 goals and assists together in the league. The Nigerian International Striker is also the League’s top scorer with 21 goals while the Georgian is the only player in the league to hit double digit for goals and assists this season, with 12 goals and 10 assists to his name.

With 16 points above Lazio, 20 points above AC Milan and 21 points above Inter Milan, only a miracle would see Napoli lose the league title to anyone. This season already seems to be their best in the last 33 years and one to be remembered as they just recently qualified to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their entire history to set up an all Italian quarter-final two-legged tie with AC Milan.

Leece (Away), Verona (Home), Juventus (Away), Salernitana (Home), Udinese (Away), Fiorentina (Home), Monza (Away), Inter Milan (Home), Bologna (Away) and Sampdoria (Home) are the remaining league fixtures for Luciano Spalletti’s men.
