Napoli fans chant Osimhen’s name as he breaks more records.

After helping Napoli to their first Scudetto after 33 years, Nigerian International Striker, Victor Osimhen had his name chanted all over the stadium as the Napoli fans couldn’t hold back their joy and excitement along with their appreciation for what he has done for the club.

The Nigerian-born forward, largely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world of football today, has scored 22 league goals in just 28 league appearances this season and is the highest goal scorer in the league.

After scoring the goal against Udinese in the 52nd minute of the game to cancel out Sandi Lovric’s 13th minute opener, not only did Osimhen help his team to win the League title but also helped himself break Samuel Eto’o’s record of the most goals scored by an African player in a season in the Italian top flight league. The legendary Cameroonian icon scored 21 goals in the 2010/11 season for Inter Milan to keep a record which has now been broken by Victor Osimhen who scored his 22nd goal of the league campaign and looks to further extend the record as he has five more matches before the season ends.

That wasn’t all for the record books for Victor Osimhen as he scored his 46th goal in the Italian Serie A matching Liberian legend, George Weah’s record for the most goals scored in the league by an African player. The 1995 Balon D’or winner, who remains the only African to win the prestigious award achieved his feat in 114 games in five seasons at Ac Milan while it has taken Nigerian Victor Osimhen only 78 games across three seasons to achieve the same tally of 46 goals.
