Luton have been promoted to the Premier League as they win the promotion play-off.

Luton’s incredibly rise from non-league football to England’s top flight is an achievement for the record books as they have completed their promotion quest.

After finishing third in the Championship standings, Luton headed into the promotion play-offs as one of the under-dogs but have astonishingly completed their promotion quest by defeating Coventry 6-5 on penalties in the play-off finals in Wembley.

Definitely worth talking about is how they have achieved this feat. Just a little less than 10 years ago, Luton town were a non-league team but remarkably would be playing Premier League football next season.

The Hatters won the Conference in 2014, moving back to the fourth tier of English football, they went on to win promotion two seasons later back to the League one. Luton finally returned to the Championship after 12 years in 2019 and made it to the Championship play-offs in 2022 but lost to Huddersfield in the semi-finals.

Luton’s Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu is the first and only player to go from non-league football to the Premier League with the same club
