LIPOSUCTION; A GOOD OR BAD CHOICE

Often times you hear obese and overweight individuals talk about how much pounds they intend to lose, and most times, they opt for liposuction without fully understanding what liposuction is all about.

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery that breaks up and removes fat from your body using a hollow instrument called cannula.

The areas liposuction is used on include the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, chin, neck, calves, back of the arm and your back.

Many are unaware of the fact that liposuction is not a weight-loss method. Liposuction is not used for treating obesity or overweight, and does not remove stretch marks. Rather it is used to treat fat areas resistant to exercise.

In fact people allowed to go for liposuction are individuals with a stable weight who would like to remove deposits of fat in specific parts of the body, and those who desire body contour enhancement.

Liposuction removes fat cells permanently and alters the shape of your body. That is why individuals who undergo liposuction are advised to lead a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of the remaining fat cells becoming bigger.

One of the main purpose of liposuction is to improve an individual's appearance, which many would be able to achieve if a healthy lifestyle is adopted. Liposuction is only advised if changes in lifestyle does not give the desired results.

Liposuction does not provide any physical health benefits.
Liposuction is usually done for aesthetic purposes, but sometimes it is done to treat certain conditions such as Lymphedema, Gynecomastia, Lipomas, Lipodystrophy syndrome.

Just like any other medical procedure, Liposuction has its own risks. Some of which can be the risk of bleeding, infection, scarring, thrombophlebitis, Numbness, adverse reaction to anesthesia.

One must consider carefully the pros and cons of liposuction before choosing to undergo the surgery.
