On Tuesday, President Tinubu met with the ruling All Progressives Congress APC immediate-past National Chairman and Secretary, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adamu and Omisore reportedly quit their seats early last week, ahead of the party's scheduled National Caucus and National Executive Council (NEC) sessions on Monday and Tuesday, July 18 and 19, respectively.
Though the cause for the visit could not be formally confirmed, it was widely assumed that it was part of efforts to resolve difficulties about the party's leadership.
When rumors of the duo's resignation circulated, Adamu, the former national chairman, was quoted as saying that he would not comment on the matter until President Tinubu, who was in Nairobi, Kenya, returned to the country.
