JUST IN: Court suspends LP’s National Chairman

A Federal High Court sitting in the  Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, Abuja has issued an order restraining the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure and three senior officials of the party from further parading themselves in their official capacities.

The said restraining order was given by Justice Hamza Muazu while ruling on an ex-parte application argued by James Onoja, who told the court how the restrained National officers reportedly forged several documents from the FCT High Court to carry out unlawful substitutions in the last general elections.

Justice Hamza Muazu's ruling on Wednesday held that the restraining order made ex-parte shall subsist pending the hearing and determination of a pending motion on notice.

The motion ex-parte which was filed by some aggrieved members of the party including the party’s Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, challenging the continued stay in office of the defendants over allegations of lawlessness.

Justice Muazu presided over in a brief ruling that the application and accompanying affidavits make a strong case for the request to be granted.

He then ordered the four individuals to cease acting as national officers of the Labour Party forthwith.
