Just In: Angry Youths Set Police Post Ablaze In Lagos

Some irate youths set a police station on Olayiwola Close in the Oregun neighborhood of Ikeja, Lagos State on fire and injured a police officer who was on duty.

A police officer suffered a brain injury as a result of the attack, the cause of which has not yet been determined.

According to reports, the officer has been taken for immediate medical attention to the emergency room at the toll gate on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

The Lagos State Fire Service was contacted and dispatched to the scene while the station was burning in order to help.

Although the fire was put out, a portion of the police station's building was damaged. But no weapon was taken.

The incident has been confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer.

He stated that the situation was being investigated and added, "No suspect had been arrested."

In the meantime, two alleged Yoruba Nation members were detained on Sunday during an attempt to seize control of the Alausa Police Station in Ikeja.

About 15 of the protesters began to record the station and themselves while on the property while yelling, "No more Nigeria police again" and "Yoruba Nation has taken over Yoruba land."

Some station-affiliated officers were hit in an effort to scatter the demonstrators.

Two of the agitators were detained while others managed to flee, according to Hundeyin, who claimed that police reinforcements were quickly dispatched to the location.

The Lagos PPRO reported that the suspects had charms, cutlasses, and group insignia found on them.
