INEC Declares APC Candidate Idris Kebbi Governor-elect

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasiru Idris, has been declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Kebbi State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Nasiru was declared the winner on Sunday by the Returning Officer for Kebbi State, Prof Yusuf Saidu at the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.

The result of the supplementary election held last Saturday was announced by the Returning Officer,  Saidu Yusuf a Professor of  Nutritional Biochemistry with the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, said Nasiru Idris polled 409,225 votes against his closest rival, General Aminu Bands, of the PDP who has 360,940 votes.

Announcing the result, he said, “I, Professor Yusuf Saidu, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2023 Kebbi State Governorship Election held on the 15th day of April 2023.

“That Idris Nasiru of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby the winner and is returned elected.”

Reacting to the election result, the Governor-elect Nasiru promised to run an all-inclusive government promising to build on the existing achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

He also said, “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.

“To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward,” he added.
