Contrary to widespread rumors that he was detained at the airport in the United Kingdom, Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate, claims he was only stopped for a routine immigration check.
Remember that th3 UK immigration officials allegedly held the former governor of Anambra State for hours at Heathrow Airport in London.
However, Obi insisted that he was never arrested in a Monday night interview with Arise TV, highlighting the fact that the routine immigration check only took around 20 minutes.
He claimed that the only reason he was examined was because it seems that someone had stolen his identity.
He claimed that he received VIP treatment.
Obi said, “I was stopped for a routine immigration check in the UK because it appears that my identity was duplicated by someone. I was never arrested. I was treated with due respect and walked through the VIP process. Everything lasted less than 20 minutes.â€
