‘I don’t have dual nationality’, Peter Obi throws jab at President-elect

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) nominee for president in the election on February 25, has declared he does not hold two citizenships.

This statement follows the controversies surrounding Bola Tinubu, who is said to have obtained citizenship in a country other than Nigeria.

Over the weekend, David Hundeyin created a frenzy among Nigerian internet users when he posted pictures of a diplomatic passport from Guinea bearing "Bola Ahmed Tinubu" and his picture on Twitter.

Despite Twitter's punishment of Mr. Hundeyin for what it deemed to be a "breach of privacy," Nigerians have begun calling for Tinubu to visit and clarify the situation.

“I’m a Nigerian. Committed Nigerian. I don’t have any dual nationality. So, this (Nigeria) is my own country.

“And I have said it that even if there is war outside this country and I’m outside, I will come back because this is my country,”Obi commented at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Labour Party in Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday.
