I DON'T EARN FROM MO'HITS LABEL - DONJAZZY.

 

In an interview with the Zero Condition Podcast, renowned Nigerian music producer and entrepreneur, Don Jazzy, shed light on a significant chapter of his career. He discussed relinquishing all rights and ownership of the iconic Mo'Hits label, paving the way for a new phase in his journey. Don Jazzy revealed that he created his brand and moved on from Mo'Hits, emphasizing that he does not earn from the label anymore. The label is now under the ownership of D'banj, also known as Don Baba Jay, as Don Jazzy clarified. 

 

During the interview, Don Jazzy said that Mo'Hits hitting rock bottom. He disclosed that both he and D'banj had previously hinted at the label's struggles, but their concerns were not taken seriously by the public. Despite the evident signs, the label's decline seemed to catch many off-guard. 

 

A brief history of the Mo'Hits label reveals its monumental impact on the Nigerian music scene. Founded in 2006 by Don Jazzy and D'banj was the first artist to be signed, the label quickly gained prominence for its unique blend of Afrobeats, pop, and hip-hop sounds. Mo'Hits was responsible for launching the careers of several music artists, including Wande Coal, Dr SID, and D'Prince, who collectively delivered hits that resonated across the continent. 

 

The label's influence reached its zenith in the mid-2000s, with chart-topping songs and groundbreaking collaborations that solidified its legacy. However, internal disagreements and external challenges eventually led to its dissolution. The aftermath saw the birth of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy's new venture, which continued his streak of producing successful artists and hits.
