I AM NOT LOOKING FOR HIT SONGS, I AM LOOKING FOR CLASSIC SONGS - OXLADE.

Nigerian singer Oxlade, born Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, has shared a remarkable journey of perseverance and determination on his path to musical success. Despite facing opposition from his lecturer father over his decision to pursue music, Oxlade boldly pursued his passion, eventually leading to a period of homelessness and menial jobs to sustain himself. He candidly revealed sleeping under the Ojuelegba barrack bridge and engaging in jobs such as selling BRT bus tickets to make ends meet.

Oxlade's commitment to creating timeless music shines through his philosophy. He expresses a deliberate focus on crafting classical compositions rather than merely chasing after hit songs. His belief in the longevity of well-crafted music is evident in his hit track “Away,” which remains popular years after its release. He highlights the value of songs like “Ku Lo Sa" that continue to resonate with listeners, underscoring the importance of leaving an enduring artistic legacy.

Throughout his interview on the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide, Oxlade's words reflect his desire to make a lasting impact in the music industry. He emphasizes the distinction between hastily produced hits and meticulously crafted classics, expressing a commitment to leaving a profound and enduring impression on his audience.
