Governor Ayade Imposes Curfew on Warring Communities in Obubra, Cross River State

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has imposed a 6 pm to 6 am curfew in the warring communities of Ovonum and Ofatura in the Obubra Local Government Area of the state over violent clashes between the two communities.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, made this known in a statement on Friday.

Ita said that Governor Ayade had directed the security agencies in the state to ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew.

The statement reads, “His Excellency, the Governor hereby directs security agencies in the state to ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew.

“The governor decries the destruction of lives and property in the renewed clashes, and vows that the government will bring to book all those behind the clashes.”
