Finally, Fintiri Won The Governorship Poll

At last, the long-awaited and most controversial Adamawa State Governorship poll has been settled as the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Ahmadu Fintiri the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election.

The Returning Officer,  Professor Mohammed Mele, a Professor of English and Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri declared Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party winner on Tuesday after polling 430,861 votes to defeat his major counterpart Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress who polled 398,788.

The supplementary election was held in the state on Saturday but was stopped on Sunday during collation after the controversial declaration of Aisha Binani the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by Hudu Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Adamawa State which generated a lot of controversy from the public.

However, the collation exercise in the state was reopened on Tuesday after the declaration of the REC on Sunday that threatened the process of a credible poll which also led the commission on Monday to ask Hudu to stay away from the office.
