FCMB founder dies at 89

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Subomi Balogun, the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) in Nigeria.

He died at 89 years ,
Subomi Balogun was born on April 21, 1932 in Lagos, Nigeria and was an entrepreneur and philanthropist.

He founded FCMB in 1982 and it quickly became one of the most successful banking institutions in Nigeria.

Under his leadership, FCMB grew to become one of the largest banks in the country with a presence across all 36 states.

Subomi Balogun was a leading figure in Nigerian business circles and was known for his passion for economic development and job creation across Nigeria.

His death marks the end of an era as he will be remembered as one of Nigeria’s greatest business leaders.

 His legacy is evidenced by the many successes he achieved during his lifetime including founding FCMB. He was known for his unwavering commitment to excellence too and his dedication to providing innovative solutions to address financial challenges in Nigeria.

His death is a significant loss for Nigeria and its people; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
